A Big Thank You

If you live in Florida, especially on the east coast where the water is a brilliant blue, the beaches are white with perfect sand, and the margaritas and pina colada’s never end, then you should already know you are in paradise. For those of you who aren’t living on the east coast, what exactly are you waiting for? There is no doubt that this little slice of heaven is what the rest of the US dreams about and yet, here we are. Day in and day out we are no more than 15 minutes from the beach, from a delicious sub shop, from a farmers market or a vintage fair. We have multiple downtown areas, a relaxed atmosphere and our backyard literally consists of rivers and the ocean. Besides our location, location, location, we have an outstanding group of men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for our community. And this week, we are putting our celebration of National Police Week in full swing!

President Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 that dedicated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which this date falls as National Police Week. Tens of thousands of officers and survivors will converge on Washington, DC to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Locally, we have quite a few heroes, and each and every one of them deserves a thank you. Take a moment out of your day to show your support and appreciation for those that help protect us and put their lives on the line day after day, year after year. Thank these men and women who do a job so few would be brave enough to do. They are the hard working, dedicated and immensely selfless officers who sacrifice their safety and time with their own families in order to protect and serve their community.

We will be visiting our local police departments dropping off “Boxes of Sunshine”, treats, care packages, and thank you notes for our wonderful officers.
