Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce is the Sunrise City! Situated south of Vero Beach on the Treasure Coast, Fort Pierce was named after the famed sinking of the Spanish Treasure fleet of 1715. The city was incorporated in 1901 and is a diverse and neighborly community. New development and revitalization struck the waterfront downtown area and helped further the creation of the now weekly farmers market, Bike Night, Downtown Friday and Jazz Market. The Sunrise Theatre is also a notable downtown landmark hosting local and touring artists on an almost daily basis.

The Florida League of Cities awarded Fort Pierce with the 2005 City of Excellence award, and the Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in downtown.
